Today in History June 27

Interesting event in our history that happened on June 27:

  • In 1844, Mormon leader Joseph Smith and his brother, Hyrum, were martyred by a mob in Carthage, Ill.

This is a truly sad day in American History. Here men that were trying to get others to live a more Christ like life were put into prison several times on trumped up charges and eventually martyred for what they believe. I would hope that something like this would never happen again.

Quote of the Day:

"People always seemed to know half of history, and to get it confused with the other half." -Jane Haddam
