My First Earthquake

Let me set the scene for you, it was about 7:15 am Thursday, Feb. 21. I was sitting in my classroom preparing for the day to start at school. Then all of a sudden I felt funny, it felt like a bunch of period were jumping up and down up stairs, but then I realized that I was on the second floor and nobody was above me. Next I noticed that the lights were kind of shaking, for a brief moment I thought "is this an earthquake"? Then it was over. It wasn't until later when I got home and found out that it was actually an earthquake that was centered in Wells, Nevada that measured to be a 6.3 by the USGS. The fact that I could feel it in a different state meant that was a pretty strong earthquake. The town looks really damaged on the news, and now everyone in Salt Lake is worrying about what if we have an earthquake. I guess now I can say that I have felt an earthquake though.

Wow, Becs! I didn't know there was an earthquake in Salt Lake. I remember my first earthquake. It was while I was sleeping and it shook me out of bed. I thought I had just rolled out of bed, but then in the morning my mom told me there was an earthquake in the middle of the night.
